Le début du sentier commence dans le parc New Discovery, le long du chemin de terre menant à Osmore Pond.
Une randonnée linéaire totale de 6.4 km vous menant à un sommet en cap rocheux couvert de mousse offrant une vue imprenable sur le lac Groton et l'étang Kettle et les montagnes vertes du Vermont. Un sentier facile à suivre débutant sur un large chemin forestier qui se rétrécira au fur et à mesure de votre entrée en montagne. Aucune difficulté technique pour parcourir ce joli sentier dans une forêt paisible.
À environ 15 minutes du sommet, vous atteindrez un stationnement en gravier et prendrez à gauche pour suivre le sentier. Les magnifiques marches en pierre de cette section du sentier ont été construites dans les années 1930 par le Civilian Conservation Corps, qui a joué un rôle déterminant dans le développement de la zone d'utilisation.
Vous remarquerez qu'il existe un itinéraire alternatif vers le parking et les marches, via une route de gravier fermée depuis la route 232. Cette route de gravier est un itinéraire beaucoup plus court, soit environ 500 m pour atteindre le terrain de gravier et les marches de pierre.
Le sommet du sentier s'ouvre sur un petit abri en pierre et une vue sur l'étang Kettle au loin. Une vue saisissante !! Juste à gauche de l'abri en pierre, un petit sentier continue à travers bois le long de la plate-forme granitique du belvédère. Si vous suivez ce chemin, il vous mènera à une grande clairière de granit et de mousse avec une vue imprenable sur le lac Groton et la vallée en contrebas. Si vous avez l'intention de vous y rendre pour la lumière du matin, c'est l'endroit où vous pouvez vous asseoir et admirer le lever du soleil.
Il est possible d'allonger votre randonnée en effectuant une boucle de14 km avec un gain en altitude de 630 m avec les monts Little Deer et Big Deer. Les indications pour effectuer cette boucle sont facile à suivre.

The trailhead begins in New Discovery Park along the dirt road to Osmore Pond.
A total linear hike of 6.4 km leading you to a rocky, moss-covered cape summit with stunning views of Groton Lake and Kettle Pond and Vermont's Green Mountains. An easy to follow trail starting on a wide logging road that will narrow as you enter the mountain. No technical difficulty to follow this pretty path in a peaceful forest.
About 15 minutes from the top you will reach a gravel parking lot and take a left to follow the trail. The beautiful stone steps in this section of the trail were built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, who were instrumental in developing the use area.
You will notice that there is an alternate route to the car park and the steps, via a closed gravel road from Route 232. This gravel road is a much shorter route, approximately 500m to reach the gravel pitch and the stone steps.
The top of the trail opens up to a small rock shelter and a view of Kettle Pond in the distance. A breathtaking view!! Just to the left of the stone shelter, a small path continues through the woods along the granite platform of the belvedere. If you follow this path it will lead you to a large clearing of granite and moss with stunning views of Groton Lake and the valley below. If you plan to go there for the morning light, this is the place to sit and watch the sunrise.
It is possible to extend your hike by completing a 14 km loop with an elevation gain of 630 m with the Little Deer and Big Deer mountains. The directions for doing this loop are easy to follow.
