Le stationnement d'hiver se trouve dans 2 lots d'extension juste à l'est et à l'ouest de Starr King Rd sur la route 2. L'aire de stationnement n'est pas déneigée et vous ne devez pas bloquer Starr King Rd.
Randonnée linéaire d'environ 20 km.
Le sentier le plus court jusqu'au sommet de Waumbek est le sentier Starr King suivi de Kilkenny Ridge trail. Il vous permettra également d'atteindre le sommet du mont Starr King.
Le sentier commence à travers une belle forêt de feuillus. L'ascension commence sur un sentier large parsemé de grosses roches et quelques racines. Le sentier se rétrécira au fil de votre ascension. La pente est douce et régulière et ne devient jamais très raide. Vous verrez un vieux puit de pierre. À 3 000 pieds, les feuillus sont remplacés par des conifères, créant une sensation de confort à l'approche du sommet de Starr King (petit tas de roche / cairn sur votre droite). Le sentier continue jusqu'à la grande cheminée en pierre laissée par un ancien abri. C'est à cet endroit que vous pourrez observer les meilleures vues de Starr King, au sud, surplombant une vaste plaine et toute la chaîne présidentielle.
Vous poursuivrez sur le sentier Kilkenny Ridge pendant 1,4 km pour atteindre le sommet de Waumbek qui sera boisé et orné d'un tas de pierre. Pour aller rejoindre South Weeks, vous devrez poursuivre au-delà du sommet de Waumbek sur KillKenny Ridge trail pendant 4,5 km. Le sentier à partir de ce point changera drastiquement. Le sol sera plus mou, très étroit, bordé par des herbes hautes épineuses. Vous aurez à franchir des montées et descentes jusqu'au sommet agrémentées de quelques vues partielles sur les montagnes environnantes. Le sommet de South Weeks est boisé et vous y retrouverez un cairn.
Le retour se fera par le même sentier.

Winter parking is located in 2 extension lots just east and west of Starr King Rd on Route 2. The parking area is not cleared of snow and you must not block Starr King Rd.
Linear hike of 20 km.
The shortest trail to mount Waumbek is the Starr King trail followed by the Kilkenny Ridge trail. It will also allow you to reach the top of Mount Starr King.
The trail begins through a beautiful leafy forest. The ascent begins on a wide path dotted with large rocks and few roots. The trail will narrow as you climb. The incline is gentle and even and never becomes very steep. You will see an old stone well. At 3000 feet, leafy trees are replaced by conifers, creating a feeling of comfort as you approach the summit of Starr King (small pile of rock on your right). The trail continues to the large stone fireplace left by an ancient shelter and this is where you can get the best views of Starr King, to the south, overlooking a vast plain and the entire Presidential Range.
You will continue on the Kilkenny Ridge trail for 1.4 km to reach the summit of Waumbek which will be wooded and adorned with a pile of rocks. To reach South Weeks, you will have to continue beyond the summit of Waumbek on the KillKenny Ridge trail for 4.5 km. The trail from this point will change drastically. The ground will be softer, very narrow, bordered by thorny tall grass. You will have to overcome climbs and descents to the top with some partial views of the surrounding mountains. The summit of South Weeks is forested and you will find a cairn there.
The return will be by the same path.
