Ce vaste plateau rempli de blocs erratiques est vraiment un endroit magnifique !
La randonnée débute sur le West Trail for Pitchoff dans un magnifique environnement boisé. La montée est progressive et vous atteindrez un tronçon plutôt plat où il y aura 2 points de vue sur les lacs Upper et Lower Cascade. Ensuite, vous aurez une montée plus raide où l'usage des mains sera nécessaire qui vous mènera à un 3e point de vue sur la magnifique cascade de Cascade Mountain. En hiver, cette chute de glace est magnifique !
Vous ferez une légère descente avant de reprendre une montée soutenue vers la gauche pour aller rejoindre la jonction avec le sentier Balanced Rocks / Pitchoff Trail. Prenez à droite. Vous marcherez sur une ligne de crête exposée jusqu'au vaste plateau offrant une vue à 360° sur les High Peak et Lake Placid.
Pitchoff
A la portion précédente, vous ajouterez un 2.2 km aller-retour vers le point de vue qui se trouvera au-delà du vrai sommet boisé de Pitchoff. À la jonction, vous prendrez à gauche. La montée soutenue vers cet objectif est sans grande difficulté technique et le sentier non balisé. En hiver, cet itinéraire est également moins fréquenté et il pourrait y être difficile de s'orienter.
Le point de vue est un petit cap rocheux offrant un panorama exceptionnel sur Cascade Mountain.

This vast boulder-filled plateau is truly a magnificent place!
The hike begins on the West Trail for Pitchoff in a magnificent wooded setting. The climb is gradual and you'll reach a fairly flat section with 2 viewpoints over Upper and Lower Cascade lakes. This is followed by a steeper, hand-holding climb to a 3rd viewpoint of the magnificent Cascade Mountain waterfall. In winter, this icefall is magnificent!
You'll make a slight descent before resuming a steady climb to the left to reach the junction with the Balanced Rocks / Pitchoff Trail. Turn right here. You'll walk along an exposed ridgeline to the vast plateau offering 360° views of the High Peak and Lake Placid.
Pitchoff
To the previous section, you'll add a 2.2 km round trip to the viewpoint beyond the real wooded summit of Pitchoff. At the junction, turn left. The sustained ascent to this objective is not technically difficult and the trail is unmarked. In winter, this route is also less frequented and may be difficult to find your way around.
The viewpoint is a small rocky headland offering an exceptional panorama of Cascade Mountain.
